Last week saw 500 of the world’s leading operations and supply chain management scholars visit Dublin for the annual EurOMA conference. EurOMA (the European Operations Management Association) is an international network of academics and practitioners from around the world who have a common interest in the continuing development of the Operations Management discipline. It is a communication network that bridges the gap between research and practice. Together with its American counterpart POMS (Production and Operations Management Society) and JOMSA (Japanese Operations Management and Strategy Association) in Asia, EurOMA is working towards extending the arena of OM throughout the world by bringing the professionals in the field closer together. In the spirit of networking, EurOMA maintains reciprocal links to other groups that are actively involved in OM.

The 20th EurOMA conference was co-hosted by UCD and Trinity and comprised six days of presentations, workshops, plant visits, keynote speeches and social events. It saw the return of the event to Dublin after a gap of 15 years. The conference overall co-chairs were Professor Brian Fynes of UCD and Professor Paul Coughlan of Trinity. NITL was delighted to participate in the event and congratulates Brian and Paul on a fine event of which they can be very proud.
