NITL was delighted to host the recent visit of Pietro Evangelista. This was part of an ongoing and longstanding research collaboration between NITL and Italian supply chain scholars. NITL’s most recent research collaboration with Pietro and his colleagues is based around the role of ICT in the logistics of extended enterprises.
Pietro is researcher in logistics and SCM at the Institute for Service Industry Research (IRAT) of the Italian National Research Council (CNR). He is currently based at the Department of Managerial Engineering (DIEG), Faculty of Engineering of the University of Naples “Federico II”. His research interests include shipping and innovation in the logistics industry. His current research activity is focused on ICT innovation diffusion in logistics service providers. This is reflected in several articles published in international journals, as well as chapters in books. The latest paper written in this research topic is entitled ‘The role of information and communications technology in small Italian logistics enterprises’ (by P. Evangelista and E. Sweeney) which will be published in the International Journal of Business and Systems Research in early 2009.
As part of the ongoing collaboration Edward Sweeney of NITL has been invited by DIEG at the University of Naples “Federico II” to launch his most recent book Perspectives on Supply Chain Management and Logistics at an event in Italy in December.
