NITL student awarded posthumous M.Sc. in Supply Chain Management

(10 Feb 2009)

The degree of Master of Science (M.Sc.) in Supply Chain Management was conferred posthumously on James Kearney this week by the Dublin Institute of Technology (DIT). Jim sadly passed whilst in the final stages of his Masters studies. He was a senior supply chain professional in the HSE, a role to which he brought his inimitable professionalism, knowledge and warmth. The conferring took place at the HSE in Dr. Steeven’s Hospital in Dublin with DIT/NITL represented by Edward Sweeney and Claudia Wagner.

NITL staff knew Jim since the Institute’s inception in 1998, mainly as a result of his involvement in the Irish Institute of Purchasing and Materials Management (IIPMM). A few years later the relationship became somewhat more formalised when Jim joined NITL’s Executive Masters Programme in Supply Chain Management. At the conferring Edward Sweeney commented that ‘Through participation in programme modules Jim’s passion for the subject shone through. During modules he engaged vigourously, challenged the conventional wisdom and was participative in manner which was exemplary. Of particular note was Jim’s willingness to share his wealth of knowledge and experience with younger participants.’ Ar dheis De go raibh a anam.
