The rapid changes in technological development are forcing business organizations to continuously look for innovative strategies to improve their competitiveness and, in many cases, this has revolutionized the way companies operate and conduct their business. This is particularly evident in the logistics and supply chain management (SCM) context where innovation impacts both at the strategic and operational levels.

This book provides relevant theoretical frameworks and the latest empirical research findings in the area. It investigates the role and the impact of innovation on four critical areas in the management of contemporary supply chains. The first area (edited by Edward Sweeney of NITL) focuses on supply chain integration (SCI) from both strategic as well as operational perspectives. The second part is focused on the impact of information technology related innovation in the supply chain and logistics service industry. The third part of the book analyses the environmental innovation affecting logistical decisions throughout the supply chain and the strategies employed in managing logistics-related environmental impacts. The fourth part of the book deals with the theoretical and practical implications of innovation in the management of supply systems.
