Supply Chain 2013 Award Winners Announced

The 2013 Supply Chain Awards took place before an audience of Ireland's top supply chain professionals yesterday, with Richard Curran of RTÉ's Dragon's Den presiding over the ceremony. NITL congratulates all of the winners on their fine achievement. This event promotes excellence in end-to-end supply chain management (SCM) and seeks to recognise those companies and professionals who are leaders in building supply chain capability and performance. NITL acted as patron of the event with Edward Sweeney overseeing the judging process.

Pat Treacy of Diageo accepts the Overall Supply Chain Excellence Award from NITL’s Pamela O’Brien

NITL wants to offer particular congratulations to Diageo who picked up the Supply Chain People Development and the Overall Supply Chain Excellence awards. The latter is sponsored by NITL. Pat Treacy, Head of SCM at Diageo Europe Beer Supply and a participant in NITL’s Executive Masters programme, picked up the awards. NITL also singled out Enterasys for particular congratulations. Their Director of Global Logistics, Gerry Hanrahan, accepted the International Supply Chain award having earlier in the day delivered the opening speech of the 2013 Supply Chain Conference. Gerry is a graduate of NITL’s flagship Executive Masters programme.

NITL also sponsored the Supply Chain Excellence award for the best supplier/vendor partnership. This was presented to Denis Doyle, EMEA Vice President, Business Development at Syncreon. Earlier in the day Denis delivered a presentation at the 2013 Supply Chain Conference entitled “21st Century Supply Chain Architectures”.

Finally, NITL offers its sincere congratulations of Professor Martin Christopher of Cranfield University who accepted the Supply Chain Leader award. Professor Christopher has been at the forefront of the development of new thinking in logistics and SCM for over thirty years. His contribution to theory and practice is reflected in the many international awards that he has received. His published work is widely cited by other scholars and he has been invited to participate in academic and industry events around the world. At Cranfield he helped to build the Centre for Logistics and Supply Chain Management into a leading international centre of excellence. Under his leadership the Centre became one of the foremost focal points for innovative teaching and research. In his acceptance speech, Professor Christopher thanked to judges for their recognition of his work and singled out NITL for particular commendation for its work in building supply chain capability and competency in Ireland.
