People at all levels in organisations require broader perspectives combined with the ability and motivation to manage change. Existing management must constantly develop their competencies to manage the business from strategy through implementation to competitive operation.
There is a prime need for the best young brains to provide a fresh, innovative impetus. In support of this need Executive MSc in Supply Chain Management provides training and education of a high academic standard and relevant to modern industry. The programme is aimed at the "high-flyers" who will be the world-class managers of the future.

It achieves this through broad-based vocational postgraduate education, providing a thorough understanding of the key elements of logistics, technology, operational management and business, including:
- supply chain management philosophy and operational practice;
- capabilities, trends and applications of information technology;
- management of operations, including management of people, quality and change;
- business skills.
WHO IS IT FOR?
Participants are graduates of Level 8 programmes (or equivalent) in any relevant discipline. The programme is ideal for either graduates of supply chain specific programmes (e.g. TU Dublin's B.Sc. in Logistics and SCM, IIPMM's BBus in Business, Procurement and Supply Management) who wish to build upon the knowledge acquired at undergraduate level or as a conversion programme for graduates from other relevant disciplines. There is an exceptional entry mechanism for individuals who do not hold the necessary academic entry requirements but who have extensive relevant practical experience in one or more aspects of SCM. All applicants are expected to have relevant work experience, and to fit the profile of a manager or technical professional needing balanced logistics, technological, operational management and business capabilities. The MSc is relevant to businesses of every kind and size.
CONTENT
Over 20 modules are currently available to MSc participants. These are 5-day modules (2 x 2.5 days) and each covers a discrete topic. They are grouped into four categories:
- Logistics
- Tools and Technology
- Supply Chain Management Skills
- Business Context
FORMAT
Participants will attend a minimum of 9 modules in accordance with the course regulations. Modules are scheduled in line with overall demand, so that each individual can formulate their chosen programme of study to meet personal needs. Attendance on any module is on the basis of "first-come, first-served", irrespective of company or function, so that attendees will represent a mix of industrial sectors and disciplines.
ASSESSMENT AND QUALIFICATIONS
Participants register for a Master of Science (M.Sc.) degree in Supply Chain Management. The registration period is normally three years. Assessment is based on post-module assignments and an in-company project. There are no final written examinations. After attendance at each module, participants undertake a related assignment aimed at practical application of the subject. These assignments play an important role in ensuring real transfer of learning back into the workplace.
Each participant also undertakes a major project identified and co-supervised by the company. This project accounts for 50% of the credit towards the Masters degree. It should be a project which leads to a tangible improvement in the performance of some aspect of the company's operation. The project and the resulting dissertation are jointly assessed by an academic tutor and an industrial manager. To achieve a Masters degree, participants must complete 9 assessed modules (i.e. fully attend and submit post module assignments). Participants must satisfy the examiners on post-module work to a total of at least 9 modules, and must satisfy the examiners in their project, dissertation and an associated oral examination.
The DIT Examination Board ensures that the course achieves the high academic standards expected of a post-graduate course at an Irish University.
